Westwood Unitarian Church Service - Sunday, 28 August 2011 at 10:30 am

Hi Everyone,

The SEA will be taking over the Westwood Unitarian church and running our own service. There will be members of the Westwood Unitarian Congregation as well as members of our own Society of Edmonton Atheists. This is a great opportunity to reach out to a group of people that we would otherwise not interact with.

The Society will be hosting an "Ask an Atheist" discussion panel where we will have to opportunity to answer questions in the hopes of promoting the many positive aspects of Atheism. The main purpose of course is to have fun.

28 August 2011 · 10:30 am - 1:00 pm

Westwood Unitarian Congregation
11135-65 Avenue
Edmonton, Alberta

Hope to see you there,

The Amazing James Randi is coming to Edmonton!

James Randi is embarking on a whirlwind cross-Canada tour hosted by the Centre for Inquiry Canada. He will be stopping in Edmonton, at the University of Alberta, where he will be giving a lecture on human psychology and how easily it can be manipulated to make people believe in psychics, UFOs, ghosts, and other paranormal and pseudo-scientific phenomena.

James Randi has an international reputation as a magician and escape artist, but today he is best known as the world's most tireless investigator and demystifier of paranormal and pseudoscientific claims.

Randi has pursued "psychic" spoonbenders, exposed the dirty tricks of faith healers, investigated homeopathic water "with a memory," and generally been a thorn in the sides of those who try to pull the wool over the public's eyes in the name of the supernatural.

He is the author of numerous books, including The Truth About Uri Geller, The Faith Healers, Flim-Flam!, and An Encyclopedia of Claims, Frauds, and Hoaxes of the Occult and Supernatural. His lectures and television appearances have delighted - and vexed - audiences around the world.

The University of Alberta Atheists and Agnostics are proudly co-hosting this event with CFI (Centre For Inquiry) Edmonton.
